Capital of the Reach, carved into a Dwemer ruin. The House of Horrors, The Taste of Death and No One Escapes Cidhna Mine all begin here, and Hamal trains Enchanting to Master once The Heart of Dibella is finished.

  • Compelling Tribute: Speak to Galmar Stone-Fist at the Reach Stormcloak Camp, who sends you to investigate Raerek, the steward of Markarth. Reward: Levelled gold and access to the wagon's respawning loot.
  • Hard Answers: Speak to Karliah outside Snow Veil Sanctum, then take the journal to Enthir in Winterhold. Reward: Nightingale Blade.
  • Silver Lining: Finish five small jobs for Delvin or Vex in the Reach, then ask Delvin about the special job in Markarth. Reward: A merchant in the Ragged Flagon and influence in Markarth.
  • Mourning Never Comes: Astrid has a contract for you once Nazir's first three are done. Reward: Gold, and Muiri's Ring for the optional kill.
  • The House of Horrors: In Markarth, find Vigilant Tyranus asking about the abandoned house near the gate and go inside with him. Reward: Mace of Molag Bal.
  • The Taste of Death: Speak to Brother Verulus in Understone Keep, Markarth, about the closed Hall of the Dead (or pick its lock), then go in and listen to Eola. No level is needed. Reward: Ring of Namira and gold.
  • The Heart of Dibella: Get caught in the Inner Sanctum of the Temple of Dibella in Markarth, which is closed to visitors, and offer to make amends. Reward: Agent of Dibella: more damage in melee against the opposite sex.
  • The Forsworn Conspiracy: Walk into Markarth's market for the first time and witness the murder there. Eltrys slips you a note to meet him at the Shrine of Talos. Reward: Levelled gold for each lead.
  • No One Escapes Cidhna Mine: Follows The Forsworn Conspiracy: return to the Shrine of Talos and be arrested. Reward: Armor of the Old Gods from the Forsworn, or the Silver-Blood Family Ring from Thonar.
  • The Lost Expedition: Read the journal on the body of Alethius just inside Nchuand-Zel, the excavation behind Understone Keep. Reward: Levelled gold.
  • Delivery: Speak to Banning at the Markarth Stables.
  • Lisbet's Missing Shipment: Speak to Lisbet at Arnleif and Sons Trading Company in Markarth.
  • Delivery to Calcelmo: Speak to the jeweller Kerah at her stall in Markarth's market.
  • Speak to Degaine: Ask Kleppr or Frabbi at the Silver-Blood Inn for work, then find the beggar Degaine.
  • Bothela's Discreet Delivery: Speak to Bothela at the Hag's Cure in Markarth.
  • Nimhe, the Poisoned One: Speak to Calcelmo at the mouth of the excavation in Understone Keep. Reward: The key to the Dwemer Museum.
  • Skilled Apprenticeship: Speak to the smith Ghorza gra-Bagol at her forge in Markarth. Reward: A level in Smithing.
  • Kill the Forsworn Leader: Ask Jarl Igmund in Understone Keep for work.
  • Dungeon Delving: Offered by Jarl Igmund after Kill the Forsworn Leader.
  • Coated in Blood: Speak to the smith Moth gro-Bagol in Understone Keep.
  • Search and Seizure: Speak to the Thalmor justiciar Ondolemar in Understone Keep.
  • A Few Words with You: Speak to the smelter worker Omluag in Markarth.
  • Fight! Fight!: Talk to Cosnach at the Silver-Blood Inn and take his bet. Reward: 100 gold; Cosnach becomes a follower.

  • Muiri's Ring – Ring: Muiri's extra reward in Mourning Never Comes, for killing Nilsine Shatter-Shield as well as Alain Dufont.
  • Silver-Blood Family Ring – Ring: Thonar Silver-Blood's reward if you kill Madanach in No One Escapes Cidhna Mine.
  • Amulet of Arkay – Amulet: Brother Verulus gives one for looking into the Hall of the Dead in Markarth. Copies turn up in random loot and at general traders and jewellers.
  • Spider Control Rod – Staff: On a table in Calcelmo's Laboratory behind Understone Keep, entered during Hard Answers.
